How To Achieve A Fantastic Smile

by Charlotte Beck

If you are like most people, you want your smile to be as fantastic looking as possible. There are a lot of different things that you can do to improve the look of your smile. This guide can be used to give you some great ideas on some of the things that you can add to your oral care regimen to help get your teeth looking more how you want them to look.

Switch out sugary foods for healthier options

When you eat something that contains a high amount of sugar, the stickiness will cling to your teeth. It will sit there and cause you to develop more plaque and gather more bacteria that will multiply. Sugar on your teeth can cause:

  • Cavities
  • Bad Breath
  • Yellowing of your teeth
  • A thick layer of visible plaque if your teeth aren't properly cleaned
  • Eventual gum disease

Sugary foods don't only include candies and soda pops, but they also include things like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, as well as pancakes with syrup. You should replace candies with fruits and sugary foods with sugar-free options, or at least with brands that have a lower sugar content than the others.

Use mouthwash correctly

There is a right way and a wrong way to use mouthwash. You want to make sure you are using it the right way. The right way to use mouthwash is to purchase a brand intentionally. It should cover the biggest concerns you have, such as controlling your breath, whitening your teeth or giving you more fluoride. You want to use the mouthwash at the right time, which is in the evening and after you are done eating. You can drink after using the mouthwash, but you should wait about a half an hour before drinking even water, so the mouthwash stays in your mouth doing its job.

Use natural methods of keeping your teeth whiter regularly

The more natural methods you include in your daily regimen, the longer you may be able to go before your teeth start to look stained and/or discolored. You can swish coconut oil around in your mouth for a few minutes in the morning as a good start. You can also brush with activated charcoal in the evening, followed by a brushing with your regular toothpaste afterward. You can even create your own toothpaste from a combination of peroxide and baking soda. However, if you do this then you NEED to make sure you mix enough peroxide in and stir it well, so it's not gritty which can scrape your enamel.

About Me

Learning to Manage Your Dental Problems

As a homeschool parent and independent contractor, I don't always have time to practice good dental care. I often find myself in a rush just to meet my daily tasks and goals. My lack of good dental care eventually caught up with me. After experiencing severe pain in my back tooth, I made an appointment with my dentist. My dentist found a large hole in the center of the tooth. Root canal treatment couldn't save the tooth, so my dentist extracted it. I learned a very painful and valuable lesson that day. No matter how hectic my life is, I should still make time to brush and floss my teeth properly. I'm here to help you and other people avoid painful dental problems with my blog. I offer tips on how to keep your teeth clean and how to spot dental problems before they get out of control. Good luck.
