3 Things You Can Do To Easily Brighten Your Smile

by Charlotte Beck

A white smile means that you are in charge of your oral health, and it looks fantastic. At the same time, it also helps to boost your self-esteem, improve your chances at landing interviews, dates, and more. It's true; research shows that you have a 58 percent increased chance of getting offered a job and a 53 percent increased chance of getting a pay raise if you have a bright smile. Plus, there is a 54 percent chance that your date will go well if your teeth are white. So, as you can see, sparkling pearly whites really can do wonders for you. While you can head to the dentist for a professional tooth whitening treatment, there are some easy things that you can do to help brighten up that smile of yours:

Try to Avoid Dark Foods and Drinks.

There are certain foods and drinks that contain dark pigmentation that will cause the staining of your teeth. Some of these include blueberries (despite the fact that these can be particularly good for your diet), marinara sauce, soy sauce, dark juice, coffee, and soda. While it is okay to consume these foods and beverages in moderation, you should try to avoid them as much as possible if you are trying to maintain a white smile. If you decide to indulge, make sure that you brush as soon as you can afterward.

Eat Raw, Crunchy Fruits and Vegetables.

When you aren't able to brush your teeth, you should reach for some crunchy fruits and vegetables. They can essentially act as a toothbrush when you don't have one handy. Fruits and vegetables, such as apples, celery, and carrots are known to be naturally abrasive, which allows them to remove some of the plaque that has built up on your teeth in addition to the surface stains. It is for that reason that these are excellent foods to add to your lunch as a final food to help clean your teeth off.

Make Use of Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda.

There's a good chance that you have both baking soda and apple cider vinegar in your home. Lucky for you, both of these can help to whiten your teeth over time. However, they both need to be used in moderation – and carefully – as they can damage the enamel of your teeth. You can use the apple cider vinegar alone as a mild mouthwash on a daily basis. Alternatively, you can mix it with the baking soda (a 2:1 ratio) to create a tooth whitening toothpaste that you can use several times a week.

About Me

Learning to Manage Your Dental Problems

As a homeschool parent and independent contractor, I don't always have time to practice good dental care. I often find myself in a rush just to meet my daily tasks and goals. My lack of good dental care eventually caught up with me. After experiencing severe pain in my back tooth, I made an appointment with my dentist. My dentist found a large hole in the center of the tooth. Root canal treatment couldn't save the tooth, so my dentist extracted it. I learned a very painful and valuable lesson that day. No matter how hectic my life is, I should still make time to brush and floss my teeth properly. I'm here to help you and other people avoid painful dental problems with my blog. I offer tips on how to keep your teeth clean and how to spot dental problems before they get out of control. Good luck.
