3 Unusual Ways To Whiten Your Teeth At Home

by Charlotte Beck

Going to a dental clinic for professional teeth whitening services offers great results for obtaining whiter teeth, but it can also be expensive. If you want to save some money and get whiter teeth, you may want to try these three unusual methods for whitening your teeth at home.

Strawberries

The first unusual method involves strawberries. Fresh strawberries contain malic acid, which is known for being an astringent. Because of this, rubbing strawberries on your teeth may help reduce the staining on them.

Before you do this, you will need to mash some strawberries and mix them with a couple teaspoons of baking soda, which is an abrasive material. Once mixed, brush the mixture on your teeth and let it soak in for at least five minutes. After the five minutes is up, rinse your mouth with water.

Citrus Peels

Fresh orange or lemon peels is another unusual remedy you can try for at-home teeth whitening. To use this method, wash an orange or lemon with water and dry it. Next, peel the fruit and rub the inside of the fruit peel on your teeth. After doing that, brush your teeth as usual.

The white part of the fruit peel contains vitamins, including Vitamin C, that are good for whitening teeth and removing stains. The best part about this method is that orange and lemon peels do not contain acid. In other words, you can use this method daily without risking damage to the enamel on your teeth.

Activated Charcoal

The third unusual method you can try is using activated charcoal to whiten your teeth. Activated charcoal is something you can purchase at most pharmacies in the form of capsules, and it is often used to treat poisoning in humans.

To use activated charcoal to whiten your teeth, open up a capsule and pour the charcoal on your tooth brush. Next, brush your teeth and leave the charcoal on your teeth for up to five minutes. Finally, rinse your mouth out with water. As you do this, your teeth will be really black from the charcoal, but it will all come off when you rinse with water.

These unusual methods may help you achieve whiter teeth, but if your teeth are still not white enough you can make an appointment with a dentist for professional services. Dentists offer bleaching treatments that are highly effective for whitening and brightening your smile.

About Me

Learning to Manage Your Dental Problems

As a homeschool parent and independent contractor, I don't always have time to practice good dental care. I often find myself in a rush just to meet my daily tasks and goals. My lack of good dental care eventually caught up with me. After experiencing severe pain in my back tooth, I made an appointment with my dentist. My dentist found a large hole in the center of the tooth. Root canal treatment couldn't save the tooth, so my dentist extracted it. I learned a very painful and valuable lesson that day. No matter how hectic my life is, I should still make time to brush and floss my teeth properly. I'm here to help you and other people avoid painful dental problems with my blog. I offer tips on how to keep your teeth clean and how to spot dental problems before they get out of control. Good luck.
