Cauliflower Popcorn: Try A Different Oral-Enhancing Snack For The Family

by Charlotte Beck

Popcorn is not the first thing that pops into your head when thinking about dental-friendly treats. But, get ready to change your mind about that with the following delectable, oral-enhancing pop-cauliflower recipe.

Oral-Enhancing Secrets In Your Cauliflower Popcorn

The following ingredients make this recipe a dental delight for the entire family:

The Cauliflower

Cauliflower is a vegetable that is filled with vitamin C. Vitamin C is not the first vitamin you think of when it comes to your oral health. But, vitamin C is essential for your gums. Your body needs vitamin C to make collagen, which composes a lot of the tissue in your body, including your gums. Your gums should be strong enough to fend off bacterial attacks if they are collagen-rich.

A Different Kind Of Butter

The recipe calls for butter, but you will need to use raw butter. Raw butter contains vitamin K2, which is an oral-friendly vitamin that is often overlooked. Your body uses vitamin K2 to pinpoint areas that need calcium. So, vitamin K2 will help your body identify your teeth's need for calcium to remineralize themselves. In layman's terms, your teeth need calcium to repair themselves from mild bacterial attacks. You should be able to find raw butter at your local dairy farm or farmer's market.

A Little Sea Salt

The recipe also calls for sea salt. You can purchase sea salt from your local health food store or online. The reason you want pure sea salt is because of its high pH value. Your mouth needs to have a neutral pH value to keep cavity-causing bacteria levels under control. Oral pathogens thrive and reproduce at optimal levels when your mouth is acidic or when the pH value is low.

Remember these ingredients are only meant to enhance your oral health, and not cure any dental-related ailments.

Delectable Pop-Cauliflower Recipe

You will need the following:

  • One head of organic cauliflower
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • Sea salt
  • Raw butter

  1. You will first need to preheat your oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Remove the white parts of your cauliflower, and cut them them into large popcorn-sized pieces.
  3. Combine the olive oil and about 1 teaspoon of sea salt.
  4. Toss the cauliflower into the olive oil, and make sure each piece is coated well.
  5. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Place the cauliflower over the parchment paper, and put it in your oven. Let the cauliflower roast for 1 hour. Make sure you turn the cauliflower pieces 3 or 4 times as they roast.
  7. You want the cauliflower to turn golden brown all over. Remove your cauliflower when they are golden brown.
  8. Melt your butter, and pour it on your pieces; add more sea salt to taste. Serve them while they are still hot.

As you can see, your whole family can still enjoy a fun movie night with a tooth-friendly snack. For more information about maintaining a healthy smile, visit a specialist like Hurst Family Dental.

About Me

Learning to Manage Your Dental Problems

As a homeschool parent and independent contractor, I don't always have time to practice good dental care. I often find myself in a rush just to meet my daily tasks and goals. My lack of good dental care eventually caught up with me. After experiencing severe pain in my back tooth, I made an appointment with my dentist. My dentist found a large hole in the center of the tooth. Root canal treatment couldn't save the tooth, so my dentist extracted it. I learned a very painful and valuable lesson that day. No matter how hectic my life is, I should still make time to brush and floss my teeth properly. I'm here to help you and other people avoid painful dental problems with my blog. I offer tips on how to keep your teeth clean and how to spot dental problems before they get out of control. Good luck.
